Sean Benson leads Orediggers in strong showing at Corban Spring Invitational

SALEM, Oregon– The Montana Tech Golf Team battled rainy conditions in the Corban University Spring Invitational at Creekside Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.

The Oredigger men were led by Sean Benson who fired rounds of 71-72-74 over the two day tournament. Benson’s 217 total placed him 14th overall out of the 70 competitors. Montana Tech’s Sean Ramsbacher also started the tournament strong firing a 71 on the opening 18 and finishing the tournament with back-to-back 79’s. Trey Hoagland (79-75-76), Jimmy Amundson (75-82-78), and Bridger Martin (83-80-77) helped the Orediggers take ninth overall in the large field of teams.

On the women’s side of the tournament, which was played as a 36-hole event, Montana Tech also finished ninth overall. The Diggers were led in scoring by Lynzee Dexter who shot 89-87 and took 30th place overall. Tanna Campbell fired 96-88, Hailey Ogolin shot 94-96, Kelsey Parker added 97-100, and Ashton McCloskey shot 98-99 in the tough conditions.

Montana Tech travels to Phoenix, Arizona to play in the Frontier Conference Championships at Papago Golf Course next weekend. The Orediggers will play a practice round Sunday and the three-day tournament begins on Monday morning at 7:30 AM MST. Live scoring of the tournament will be available on on BirdieFire.com.
