Montana Tech can’t put it together against MSU-Northern

BUTTE – The Orediggers nearly pulled off a second half comeback for the ages but fell short to MSU-Northern 69-58 on Kelvin Sampson Court.

Montana Tech rebounded from 17 points down at halftime (38-21) to cut the game to three points with less than ten minutes to play before foul trouble doomed the Tech comeback.

The Diggers received monster performances from Taylor England who scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while Troy Owens Jr. scored a game high 23 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the floor. Montana Tech shot just 37 percent for the contest while MSU-Northern shot 51 percent in the first half and 45 percent for the game.

MSU-Northern was led offensively by Justin Dunsmore who tallied 16 points.

Montana Tech falls to 4-6 in Frontier Conference play and 14-8 overall while Northern improves to 6-5 in league and 14-9 overall.
