BUTTE – In what had to be one of Kyle Samson’s most chaotic weeks in his coaching history, he’s happy to now have a full week under his belt at Montana Tech.

Samson has been around the Orediggers at their early offseason workouts, getting some valuable time to be around his new offense and the quarterbacks he will be responsible for. Samson was recently named Tech’s offensive coordinator after spending the past five seasons as the head coach at Kalispell Flathead High School.

At this point in the offseason, Samson told MTN Sports that his main focus is not all about getting his schemes and playbooks in front of the players’ eyes. Rather, he is taking the time to get to know the whole team, so he can build off the strengths of the incoming 2019 Digger squad.

“The biggest thing for me is getting to know my players, getting to know the guys, especially the offensive guys, but to get to know the whole team,” Samson said. “I think it’s important before we even get worried about scheme and that type of stuff to get to know them as a person, build that relationship with them and find out what they do well. You know, that’s what we’ll base our offense off of.”
