BUTTE – Montana Tech is facing a tough task Saturday as it goes up against third-ranked Carroll on the road.

On the men’s side of things, the Diggers understand the challenge ahead of them, but they’ve been one of the hottest teams early on in the season. They were picked to finish in the bottom half of the conference this year, so they’re hoping a good showing against a talented Carroll squad will be proof to the rest of the Frontier Conference that Montana Tech is a legitimate contender.

“They’re a fantastic program. They’ve been good for the past two to three years,” head coach Adam Hiatt said. “They have a veteran team. We like their talent, we have for the past couple years. They play with a great amount of confidence. They rely heavily on their experience. So we believe we go in there and match their confident play, and if we can make them a little bit uncomfortable on their offensive end with our defensive pressure, and the plan we may be able to put in then we’re going to give ourselves a chance to compete against them.”
