BUTTE – On Saturday, the Montana Tech Orediggers will travel to Billings for their 2018 season finale against the 11th-ranked Rocky Mountain College Battlin’ Bears.
It’ll be the end of the road for a Montana Tech squad that has had a variety of highs and lows throughout the season. A win on Saturday would improve the Diggers’ record to 5-5 overall. A win would also carry the possibility of spoiling Rocky Mountain’s postseason chances, so the Diggers get to play with nothing to lose and play the role of spoilers to the best team in the Frontier Conference.
Head coach Chuck Morrell said he still will be putting out the guys who give the team the best chance of winning, so expect to see a good mix of seniors and underclassmen.
“Obviously we’re going to play the guys that give us the best chance to win. That doesn’t change, whether it’s the last game of the season or the first game of the season,” Morrell said. “Our game plan moves around every week, but obviously we’ll feature a lot of our seniors. A lot of our seniors are our best players. They’ll be out there a bunch. We got a mix of young guys that are playing really well right now that have been on the field all year and will continue to be on the field all year.”
