BUTTE – In a “spooky” volleyball version of the classic rivalry between Carroll College and Montana Tech, it was the Orediggers who grabbed the win on Halloween.
The first set started with early dominance from Tech. Masha Korol and Karina Mickelson both grabbed huge momentum-stopping points for the Diggers. Carroll came through late in the set, though. Lexi Mikkelsen caused havoc for the Montana Tech defense, which ultimately helped lift the Saints to the first-set win.
But since it was Halloween, it was only fitting that the Diggers would “ghost” the Saints in Sets 2, 3 and 4 four to win the rivalry and improve their record to 15-14 overall.
Montana Tech hits the road for its next game on Friday against Lewis-Clark State, and Carroll will play L-C State the day after Tech.
