CORVALLIS, Ore. — In an exhibition game against Pac-12 opponent Oregon State, the Montana Tech Orediggers fell 103-51 to the Beavers on Saturday evening.
The Orediggers shot 52.2 percent in the first trailing just 48-34 at the break. The second half was more lopsided as Tech hit just 5 of 27 from the field while Oregon State continued with a hot hand finishing the game shooting 24 of 25 and 7 of 17 from beyond the arc.
Junior transfer Troy Owens Jr. shot 6 of 13 and made 2 of 5 from three point range to lead the Orediggers with 17 points. Owens added five rebounds.
Derrius Collins had 10 points for the Diggers going 4 for 6 from the field and making his lone three point attempt. Collins also had three rebounds and three assists.
Former Missoula Hellgate standout and Montana Gatorade player of the year Tres Tinkle led the Beavers with 20 points. Stephen Thompson Jr. also had 20 points for Oregon State.
Montana Tech hosts the PayneWest Tip Off Classic next Thursday and Friday at the HPER Complex.
