Heather Thompson leads Montana Tech volleyball to sweep against MSU-Northern

HAVRE — Heather Thompson tallied 12 kills as No. 23 Montana Tech swept MSU-Northern in three sets on Saturday.

Thompson had 12 kills in the match, while Masha Korol had eight kills and nine digs in the Orediggers’ 25-20, 25-19, 25-16 win. Hannah Liss had a team-high 18 assists, which saw Kamaile Moody add 15.

Northern was led by Emily Gutierrez, who totaled eight kills and four digs in the defeat.

Tech improved to 10-6 overall, including a 2-0 mark in Frontier Conference play, keeping pace with No. 6 Rocky Mountain College (13-1, 2-0) after the Battlin’ Bears topped Carroll College in four sets on Saturday. The Orediggers return to Butte for a match against rival Montana Western on Thursday.

MSU-Northern (1-12, 0-2) travel to Great Falls to meet No. 15 Providence on Wednesday.
