BUTTE – Montana Tech head women’s basketball coach Carly Sanon announced a coaching addition Wednesday. Jasmine Porter joins Coach Sanon on the bench for the upcoming season.

“I am excited to have Jasmine as a part of my coaching staff,” said Coach Sanon.

“As a standout two-sport high school athlete in Utah and NCAA Division I player, she knows what it takes to play at a high level, and I know she will instill those principles to our student athletes.”

Porter, a former player at San Diego State and Utah State, grew up in Layton, Utah. Porter is the all-time leading scorer for Layton Christian Academy, earning all-State honors twice and named Region MVP three times. She played her first two years of collegiate basketball for the Aztecs before finishing her collegiate career at Utah State.

“She comes from a coaching family and is very knowledgeable of the game. She is ready to work and eager to learn more,” Sanon said.

Porter’s coaching experience includes youth basketball and two years as an assistant for the varsity men’s basketball team at Layton Christian Academy where her father Bobby Porter has coached for almost two decades. She helped lead Layton Christian to a 2A state championship in 2017.
