MSU-Northern women upset No. 22 Providence

HAVRE — The MSU-Northern Skylights won 62-56 in a Frontier Conference matchup against No. 22 University of Providence on Wednesday night. Northern was down at half by 10 (31-21). The Skylights came back to outscore Providence in the third and fourth quarter (21-16 and 20-9) to win the game. The MSU-Northern Skylights took the lead in the fourth quarter with 4:07 on the clock. From then on, the Skylights didn’t give the lead up.

The MSU-Northern Skylights were led by Sabin Keo who had 16 points on the night going 6-10 from the field. Peyton Kehr had 14 points going 5-9 from the field. Tiara Gilham added 13 points going 6-10 from the field. Allix Goldhahn led the rebounding with seven.

The Argos were led by Emilee Maldonado, who had 27 points for the night shooting 11-20 from the field. Maldonado added five assist out of Argos 11. Parker Esary had a double-double with 11 points and 17 rebounds.

The MSU-Northern Skylights shot 39 percent from the field (24-61), and were 30 percent behind the arc (4-13) They went 10-16 from the free throw line (62 percent). Northern had 15 assists to eight turnovers.

Providence shot 40 percent from the field, 33 percent from behind the arc, and 8-12 from the foul line.

The Skylights move to 11-14 in the overall season and 3-10 in conference play. Providence drops to 5-8 in league play.

The Skylights will be at home on Friday Feb. 8 against Montana Tech at 6 p.m.
