FORSYTH — Montana State-Northern cruised to a 31-9 win over Minot State in a Thursday wrestling dual at Forsyth High School.
The event was hosted at Forsyth to help celebrate former Dogies Brandon Weber and Matt Weber, who combined to win seven Montana high school state championships during their careers. Both are now seniors are MSU-Northern. The Lights’ roster also includes former Forsyth standouts Chris Nile, a redshirt junior, and Nathan Weber, who is redshirting this season, but neither wrestled in Thursday’s dual.
Matt Weber is the NAIA’s top-ranked wrestler at 141 pounds. He notched a 13-8 decision over Minot State’s Jered Sublet on Thursday. Brandon Weber, ranked second at 157 pounds, earned a 15-0 technical fall over Zackary Berry of Minot State.
Nick Kunz, Landon Bailey, Andrew Bartel, Chase Short, Steeler French and Isaac Bartel also scored wins as the Lights won eight of the 10 matches.
The No. 3-ranked Lights will next head to Dickinson, N.D., to compete at the Tyler Plummer Classic on Jan. 12.
