MSU-Northern men upset No. 23 Providence on late shot in overtime

GREAT FALLS – Caulin Bakalarski hit a 3-point shot with two seconds left in overtime to lift the MSU-Northern Lights to an 87-85 upset over No. 23 Providence in Frontier Conference men’s basketball action on Tuesday.

The Lights were in control for most of the game, heading to halftime up 44-33 and increasing the lead to as many as 14 points in the second half. But the Argos rallied behind 28 points from both Brandon Cotton and Jalen Shepard to send the game to overtime tied at 74.

Providence (12-4, 3-2) missed a game-winning 3 as time expired to give the Lights (10-7, 2-3) their second Frontier Conference win of the season.

Mascio McCadney led the Lights with 23 points, Kavon Bey added 17 and Justin Dunsmore pitched in 13. Bakalarski had 11 points in the win.
