HELENA — The Carroll College volleyball team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s Team Academic Award, the organization announced on Monday.

“It’s truly an honor to get to coach these young ladies,” Fighting Saints coach Moe Boyle said. “To be able to work with their talent on the court and also know that they are going to make the world a better place when their playing days are done is extremely satisfying.”

To earn the award, a team must hold a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale. Carroll College became one of just 51 NAIA teams to earn the award.

The volleyball team posted the highest team GPA of any Carroll athletic program with a 3.484 during the 2018-19 school year.

The AVCA recognition is another academic award for the volleyball team. Nine of the team members were named academic all-conference, while four went on to become NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes. Senior middle hitter Jenna Starke also became a Google Cloud Academic All-District selection.
