HELENA — Carroll College student-athletes led the Cascade Collegiate Conference with a 3.38 GPA this past school year, earning Presidents’ Academic Excellence status, the CCC announced on Tuesday.
“Earning Presidents’ Academic Excellence designation is a great accomplishment,” CCC Commissioner RobertCashell said in a press release. “It represents the highest academic honor our departments can earn from the CCC and recognizes the outstanding efforts in the classroom.”
In order to receive the designation a department must achieve and overall combined GPA of 3.0 or better among their student-athletes (men/women) that compete in sports that the CCC declares a champion in, and have 60% or higher of student-athletes who are eligible to receive Academic All-Conference (sophomore standing/3.2 GPA) recognition do so. The Saints held a 3.38 GPA while 65 percent of the student-athletes were awarded academic all-conference honors.
It’s the second time in the past three years Carroll College has won the award.
The Saints are an affiliate member of the CCC. Carroll’s men’s and women’s soccer teams and softball team all compete in the CCC. The women’s soccer team held a 3.44 GPA this past academic calendar, while the men held a 3.4 and the softball team held a 3.31.
Joining Carroll were College of Idaho, Oregon Tech, Northwest Christian, Embry-Riddle and Northwest.
