Harry Clark, Carroll College track and field sign 33

HELENA — Carroll College track and field head coach Harry Clark announced the signing of 33 student-athletes, one of his biggest recruiting hauls ever.

“This is one of the most impressive classes we’ve put together,” Clark said. “Recruiting is a team effort with coach Jimmy Stanton and Ryan Utsey. I’m proud of the caliber of athlete we’re bringing in and pleased with what’s to come for Carroll track and field. A good portion of this class brings in marks that would qualify them for nationals already.”

On the women’s side, the Saints are bringing in 24 athletes ranging from across Montana to Washington, California, Nevada, Oregon, Idaho, North Dakota and Wyoming. The full list of athletes signed is below.

WOMEN

Sophie Loveless comes to Carroll from Newport High out of Bellevue, Washington. Loveless joins the Saints as a jumper with personal records of 38-feet, one-half inch in the triple jump and 17-feet in the long jump. Her triple-jump mark could have qualified her for nationals this season with the NAIA’s B-Standard.

Kamden Hilborn joins the Saints on the track after transferring from Montana State this past spring. The hometown product out of Helena High will also play basketball for the Saints. She has PRs of 12-feet, 3-inches in the pole vault and a long jump PR of 17-feet, 5-inches. A state champion in pole vault, her PR in the event would put her at No. 5 in the NAIA this season.

Natalie Yocum will be a Fighting Saint after her career at Frenchtown High. The middle distance runner has PRs in the 800 of 2:22.76 and in the 1,600 of 5:21.22

Reghan Worley comes to Carroll after a prep career at Evanston Senior High, in Evanston, Wyoming. The distance runner has PRs of 5:25.04 in the 1,600, 11:44.50 in the 3,200 and a cross country best of 18:59.60.

Kate Picanco is a multi-events athlete joining the Saints from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, Washington.

Katelyn McKay is a homegrown product, joining the Saints after a strong career at Helena High. McKay will join the distance team, posting personal records in the 800-meter with a time of 2:27.19 and in the 3,200 in a time of 11:48.83.

Emilie Maes, too, will stay close to home. Maes competed for the Bengals at Helena High as a sprinter and owns a PR in the 100 of 12.52.

MEN

On the men’s side, Ozzy Wexler joins the Saints out of Lewiston High in Lewiston, Idaho. The hurdler has personal records in the 300-meter hurdles of 39.09 and a PR in the 400-meter of 50.06.

Christopher Abel joins the Saints out of Laurel High in Laurel, Montana. The hurdler’s PRs are in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.04 and in the 300-meter hurdles at 40.73.

Lee Walburn, a hurdler out of Whitefish, also brings some strong marks in for the Saints. Walburn has PRs of 15.13 in the 110-hurdles and 39.79 in the 300-meter hurdles.

Jesse McMurtrey of Helena Capital will join the distance team next fall. McMurtrey holds a PR in cross country of 16:24.5.

The track team previously announced the signing of Tavy Findon, Madison Boles and Katie Rhodes.
