HELENA — The Carroll College Fighting Saints softball team hosted its home opener in Helena on April 5, 28 games into the 2019 season. Nonetheless, the Saints won five of six in Montana last week, sweeping Eastern Oregon in Missoula to start the week, then winning two of three against the Northwest Christian Beacons.

Following the two series, players and coaches were happy they were able to finally play on their home turf.

“It feels good to be at home and have our fans at the game, sleep in our bed a couple nights,” said head coach Aaron Jackson. “There’s nothing like playing in your hometown, or at least in the state of Montana.”

“You’re always a little more excited to play at home and defend your own home field,” said senior Ali Williams. “I think everyone was finally excited to have the opportunity and get some home fans.”

Carroll College’s homestand was short lived, as the Saints head back on the road to play the College of Idaho Yotes starting April 12.
