HELENA — Carroll College’s Brittney Johnson and Hannah Dean were named Daktronics-NAIA Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athletes, the NAIA announced on Monday.

In order to receive the honor, a student-athlete must hold a minimum grade point average of 3.5 (four-point scale) and have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for honor. An exclusive group of 148 student-athletes from around the country were given the award.

Johnson and Dean excelled in the classroom while leading the Saints to 26 wins under coach Rachelle Sayers, the most of her Saints’ tenure. Carroll won the Frontier Conference postseason championship and advanced to the Second Round of the NAIA Tournament.

Dean and Johnson were previously named academic All-Frontier.

And Dean, a senior from Gardiner, was previously named CoSIDA academic all-district. She also was acknowledged as a WBCA NAIA All-American honorable mention and the Frontier Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year, as well as an All-Frontier first team performer.
