BUTTE– The Montana Tech Orediggers spoiled the Carroll College Fighting Saints’ opportunity to win the Frontier Conference outright by beating the Saints by a score of 69-66 in a Thursday night men’s basketball game.
The Saints had one last chance to tie the game, send it to overtime and preserve their chance to win the Frontier Conference, but the last-second heave by Dane Warp did not connect, giving the Orediggers their sixth conference win of the season.
The Saints will look to retain at least a share of the Frontier Conference regular-season title with Lewis-Clark State, when they take on the Rocky Mountain Battlin’ Bears on Feb. 23.
Prior to the conclusion of the regular season for the Battlin’ Bears and Fighting Saints, Rocky Mountain will make a pit stop in Butte to take on the Orediggers on Feb. 22.
