HELENA — Carroll College basketball coach Kurt Paulson announced the signing of Sayer Patton of Choteau, the third commitment of Paulson’s 2019 class.

“Sayer comes to us from Montana, which we love,” Paulson said. “He is the best shooter, we feel, in the state. His ability to create his own shot is what attracted us to him along with his character and extremely high GPA. He is a great fit at Carroll College because he wants to study pre-med and his style of play fits our system. He can rebound well for a wing and push it up the floor looking to score or create for others. We are excited for his future at Carroll.”

Patton is a 6-foot-3 wing out of Choteau High. His scoring ability is among the best in the state of Montana and has improved each of his prep years. Patton averaged 22 points as a sophomore, 26 points as a junior and is currently averaging 30 points in his senior campaign. This season he’s also pulling down nine rebounds, dishing three assists and recording three steals a night, while shooting 67 percent form the field and 38 percent from the three-point line.

“I decided on Carroll because they have a great basketball program and I see myself playing for coach Paulson,” Patton said. “Their style of play matches mine. Probably the biggest deciding factor was their pre-med program. I’m looking to go into medicine and being able to play the game I love and go to a school that has such a good pre-med program… it was just the perfect fit.”

Patton joins Jonny Hillman of Post Falls, Idaho, and Gaven Ramirez of Corona, California, in the Fighting Saints’ 2019 men’s basketball recruiting class.
