Carroll College basketball sweeps on the road against Lewis-Clark State

LEWISTON, Idaho — Match Burnham lit it up for 32 points and the No. 3 Carroll College Saints bounced back for a momentous road victory over No. 10 Lewis-Clark State on Thursday in Lewiston, Idaho, 84-78.

Burnham nearly posted a perfect night, shooting 10-for-11 from the field and 11-for-13 from the foul line.

Joining him in double figures was Matt Wyman, who scored 12 points and added five rebounds and four assists.

The Saints shot a blistering 65 percent from the field, 46 percent from the three-point line and 82 percent from the free-throw line, returning to their highly efficient form at the critical juncture in the season.

Lewis-Clark State received 20 points from Dana Abe.

Carroll held a three-point lead at halftime, 37-34, and battled evenly with the Warriors in the second half. The Saints held a multiple-possession lead the majority of the second half.

The Saints travel to Dillon on Saturday to take on the last-place Bulldogs.


LEWISTON, Idaho — The unbeaten run continues.

The No. 8 Carroll College Fighting Saints remained undefeated in the Frontier Conference, scrapping its way to a 60-53 win on the road against No. 16 Lewis-Clark State on Thursday night.

Brittney Johnson had 16 points on 6-for-12 shooting, including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc.

Hannah Dean also cracked double figures for the Saints.

After LC held a four-point lead with 5:10 left in the first quarter, the Saints never trailed again, building a lead as large as 16 with 6:22 left in the third quarter. The Warriors trimmed that lead, but the Saints never let LC back in the game.

Christine Dennny pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds and also chipped in seven points.

Dani Wagner added eight points and six rebounds.

Ten Saints played nine players, while eight scored.

Lewis-Clark State received 10 points each from Jossilyn Blackman and Kiara Burlage.

Carroll heads to Dillon next to take on the No. 4 Bulldogs on Saturday.
