HELENA — Carroll College soccer players Devan Murfitt and Talya Vaira were named to the 2018 United Soccer Coaches NAIA Women’s Scholar All-America team.
“Exciting to see two of our seniors receive national recognition for both their ability on the pitch and in the classroom,” Saints coach Dave Thorvilson said.
The seniors achieved highly in the classroom and helped the Saints to success on the pitch.
Murfitt, a goalkeeper from Bozeman, posted a 3.99 GPA while pursuing a degree in nursing. On the field, she made 116 saves while recording five shutouts and only allowing 25 goals this season.
Vaira, a forward from Great Falls, scored three goals (one game-winner) and added four assists this past season. She sported a 3.93 GPA in chemistry and biochemistry/molecular biology.
The Saints went 10-6-3 this past season and were co-champions of the regular season in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
