LA GRANDE, Ore. — Carroll College’s Devan Murfitt and Jose Porras earned Cascade Collegiate Conference player of the week honors for their performances over the weekend. The league announced the news on Monday.
Murfitt, who earned the league’s honorable mention honor one week ago, was named defensive player of the week after leading the Fighting Saints to a pair of shutouts over the weekend. She tallied seven saves in a 1-0 win over Oregon Tech on Friday, then added four more in a 1-0 shutout against Southern Oregon on Sunday.
Rocky Mountain College’s Maia Wetzel was named the league’s honorable mention defender of the week.
Porras was given the conference’s offensive player of the week award on the men’s side, scoring two goals in Friday’s 4-0 win over Oregon Tech. The Saints fell to Southern Oregon 3-1 on Sunday, but still clinched the No. 7 seed in next weekend’s Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament.
