OLYMPIA, Wash. — Payton Netz rebounded a miss and scored the golden goal in overtime to give Carroll College a 2-1 win over Evergreen on Saturday.

The Saints (8-6-2, 7-1-2 CCC) took the lead in the 17th minute when Makayla Welch took a pass from Netz and scored after a nice cross.

Carroll held that lead until Evergreen (3-12, 2-8) equalized the game in the 55th minute.

Welch was sent off in the 84th minute after receiving a red card.

Even down a player, the Saints found a way when Netz made the difference in overtime.

Carroll outshot Evergreen 18-11, including 12-5 in shots on goal.

The Saints have clinched a playoff berth and have a shot at winning the conference’s regular season title next weekend. They currently sit in second place.

Carroll closes out the regular season at home with games against OIT and Southern Oregon.

Carroll College’s men’s soccer team lost 3-1 to Evergreen on Saturday.

The Saints (6-6-1, 5-5-1) fell behind 2-0 in the first half and could not overcome the deficit.

The Saints got on the board in the 82nd minute when Leo Georgiades scored off a header from his brother, Paolo.

But, the Geoducks scored once more in the 85th minute.

The Saints outshot Evergreen 17-14, though the Geoducks put more of those shots on goal, 5-4.

The Saints also had more corners, 3-1, than Evergreen but just couldn’t convert.

Carroll now sits in the eighth and final playoff slot in the CCC with two games remaining.
