HELENA — Carroll College junior outside hitter Ayla Carpenter was named the Frontier Conference Defender of the Week.
Carpenter helped the Saints to a 2-2 record at the Aquinas-Cornerstone Classic this past weekend. The 5-9 OH from Graham, Washington, averaged 5.82 digs per set and had a 90 percent serving percentage, including 10 aces.
Carpenter garnering the award is the second time a Saint has won a Frontier weekly award this season. Redshirt freshman Ali Williams earned Setter of the Week earlier this season.
Meanwhile, Carroll College seniors Brielle Bumgarner and Morgan Christy were selected to the Aquinas-Cornerstone Classic first and second all-tournament teams over this past weekend.
The Saints went 2-2 with victories over Siena Heights and Northwestern Ohio.
Bumgarner, a senior from Kalispell, Montana, earned first-team honors after leading the Saints in kills over the weekend. She had double-digit kills in each of the matches, posting a high of 15 twice.
Christy, a senior from Anchorage, Alaska, earned second-team honors for her strong play around the net, too. Christy broke double-digits in kills against Northwestern Ohio with 10 kills, her second highest outing of the season.
Carroll jumps back into conference-play with a trip to Rocky Mountain College on Friday.
