Carroll College golf finishes 4th at University of Providence Invite

HELENA – The Carroll College men’s and women’s golf team finished in fourth place on Tuesday at the Argos Invitational played at Meadowlark Country Club in Great Falls.

The women’s golf team improved on Day 2 to finish fourth after sitting in fifth after the first round.

The Saints followed their opening day round of 364 with a 16-stroke improvement at 348. Their Day 2 total allowed them to move past Montana Tech and shoot a 717 for the invite.

Cailin Spencer finished the best for the Saints, shooting a two-round total of 170 to finish in a tie for 14th.

Nearly every Saint’s women’s golfer shot better on Day 2.

Caroline Hobson trimmed 12 strokes off her opening round, shooting an 83 in her second round to finish in a tie for 19th.

Weslee Nehl (180, 22nd) Aubrey Davis (184, 27th) and Sydnee Nowlen (190, 28th) rounded out the team score for the Saints.

Madison Robischon competed as an individual and finished in a tie for 29th with a two-round score of 194.

The men shot a three-round team total of 897, finishing 25 strokes behind invite winner Rocky Mountain College.

Stephen Santora surged on the final day for the Saints, shooting a team-low score on the final day of 73. His three-round total was 223, 7-over-par, to finish tied for seventh.

Ben Gardner also hugged his near-top 10 ranking, finishing in a tie for 11th after shooting a 76 on Tuesday for a three-round total of 225.

Chase Marquette and Samuel Berry both fired three-round totals of 230 to tie for 15th.

Joseph Potkonjak tallied the final score for the Saints with a 231 three-round total.

Carroll individuals Josh Neth (270, 36th), Palmer Moylan (282, T38th) and Dale Hansen (285, 40th) all had difficulties in their final rounds.

The Saints’ final event of the fall is Oct. 1-2 in Billings at Yegen Golf Club.
