GREAT FALLS — College of Idaho is the team to beat in the Frontier Conference football season.
The Yotes topped the preseason polls, both the coaches and media, on Tuesday afternoon at the Frontier Conference football media day.
Southern Oregon and Montana Western were voted second and third, respectively, in both polls.
College of Idaho enters its sixth year in the Frontier Conference, after restoring its football program from a 37-year hiatus. The Yotes finished 6-5 overall, 6-4 in the Frontier Conference, despite opening the season with five consecutive losses. The program received five first-place votes in each poll.
Southern Oregon received three first-place votes by the media and two by the coaches, while Western collected three by the media and one from the coaches.
Traditional powerhouse Carroll College was voted second-to-last in both polls, due to a new coaching staff headed by Troy Purcell.
