HAVRE — Montana State-Northern led 13-0 early, but No. 18 Montana Western rallied for a 42-13 win Saturday afternoon to remain atop the Frontier Conference.
A 68-yard touchdown pass from Tommy Wilson to Marvin Williams Jr. gave Northern a 13-0 lead, but Western stormed back on the heels of its defense.
After Jon Jund tied things up at 13 on a quarterback keeper, the Bulldogs’ special teams stepped up for the second consecutive week. A blocked a punt leading to a 1-yard touchdown run by Kylar Prante turned the tide in Western’s favor. Coupled with a rushing attack that piled up over 200 yards and four touchdowns, Western ate up possession in the second half and scored seemingly at will.
Western improves to 6-1 (6-1 Frontier Conference) and will remain atop the Frontier Conference standings. Montana State-Northern remains winless in conference play and drops to 1-7 overall on the season.
