Frontier Conference announces volleyball players of the week

WHITEFISH – Student-athletes from Carroll College, Montana Western and University of Providence were named the Frontier Conference volleyball players of the week on Monday.

Kelsey Shaver of Providence was named the attacker of the week. The 5-foot-10 junior outside hitter from Scotts Valley, Calif., helped No. 24 Providence down No. 23 Montana Tech 3-1 in its only match of the week. Shaver averaged 5.50 kills per set with a .299 hitting percentage. Defensively, she averaged 5.75 digs per set.

Montana Western’s Dylan Fowler, a 5-5 senior libero from Belgrade, was named the defender of the week. The Bulldogs lost at Carroll College 2-3 and recorded their first conference win with a 3-0 sweep of MSU-Northern. Fowler averaged 6.63 digs per set, including 31 against Carroll.

The setter of the week is Carroll College’s Aliya Williams, a 6-1 freshman from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The Saints won their only match of the week when they edged Montana Western 3-2. Williams averaged 6.60 assists, 3.60 digs and 2.20 kills per set.
