HELENA — Carroll College women’s basketball coach Rachelle Sayers announced the signing of Great Falls high alum and California Baptist transfer Emma Madsen, a 5-10 guard/forward.

“I am really pumped to have Emma in the program,” Sayers said. “Unfortunately for us, we didn’t get her right out of high school but we are really excited to have her back. I think her best years are definitely ahead of her. She lost her entire senior season because of a torn ACL and spent much of last year trying to get back to where she was. I love her toughness and her genuine excitement to play basketball. She is going to be a great fit and immediately make an impact on our team.”

She appeared in 21 games for Cal Baptist and shot .436 from the field for the Lancers who are in the midst of a transition from NCAA DII to NCAA DI.

She graduated in 2017 from Great Falls High. Madsen missed her entire season after an injury during the soccer season, but was twice an AA Eastern All-Conference honoree and helped GFHS to the 2016 AA Championship where the Bison fell 45-44 to Bozeman.

For Madsen, the return to Montana was an opportunity that she couldn’t pass up. She is excited to be close to home and to play in front of her parents.

“Montana is so great about supporting sports,” Madsen said. “I’m so excited to be at Carroll where I’ll get an excellent education as well as have the opportunity to be coached by such a great coaching staff and play with some amazing athletes. I’m really looking forward to being a Saint.”

Madsen’s signing closes out a recruiting class that includes Boise area standout Maddie Geritz, Nine Mile Falls guard Sienna Swannack and Alexandria Williams from Las Vegas.

The Saints are the reigning Frontier Conference champions after winning the first title for Carroll since 2007. The Saints also advanced to the NAIA round of 16.
