HELENA — It’s a busy time up on the Hilltop as Carroll College kicks off its Kids Camps this week.

The kids football camp started on Sunday and goes through Wednesday. For coach Mike Van Diest and his crew, these camps are a great opportunity to interact with the kids and help them, not only build the fundamentals of football, but hopefully foster some friendships that will last long after this week.

“We just want them to have a better understanding, hopefully a better love for the game of football, understand what it means to be a teammate,” said Van Diest. “We got kids from Oregon, we got kids from Centerville, we got kids from Colstrip. They come here and maybe they don’t know anybody and by the end of the week they have a lot of new friends that they keep in touch with hopefully this summer through social media. But just to develop that teamwork, that attitude and learn a little more offense and defense.”
