Rocky Mountain College sends 3 to NAIA Track & Field Championships

BILLINGS – The Rocky Mountain College track & field team officially had two runners and one relay team qualify for the 67th annual Men’s Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, the NAIA announced today.

Isaac Petsch earned an invite in the 1,500 meter run as the No. 7 seed with a qualifying time of 3 minutes, 51 seconds. He hit that mark at the Montana Open on April 12 when his time of 3:54.67 was converted to 3:51.96 for altitude.

Eddie Loughran earned a trip to the national meet in the marathon. His half marathon time of 1:14:53 at the UP Frontier Conference Open on May 10 hit the NAIA “B” qualifying standard by seven seconds.

Rocky also earned a spot in the 4×800 meter relay after a qualifying time of 7:45.79 at the Trudnowski Open on April 19. The Battlin’ Bears are seeded 18th in the race after their time of 7:47.60 was adjusted for altitude.

The Outdoor Track & Field National Championships are being held at the Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala., from May 24-26. The prelims of the 1,500 are on Thursday at 2:40 p.m. MT with the 4×800 prelims at 5:15 p.m. MT that say day.

The marathon will be run on May 26 at 5 a.m. MT with finals for the 1,500 at 2:10 p.m. MT and the 4×800 at 4:50 p.m. MT that Saturday.
