HAVRE — Montana State University-Northern women’s basketball coach Chris Mouat has announced the signing of Sydney Hovde to join the Skylights this fall. Hovde, a 6-foot post player from Columbia Falls, recently completed one season at North Idaho College.

“Sydney is a good addition for us,” said Mouat. “She brings size and rebounding, and she comes in with a quality year of college basketball under her belt at North Idaho. She plays hard and will be a great fit in our program.”

This past season, Hovde played over 28 minutes per game for the Cardinals. She shot 58 percent from the field and averaged 10.4 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.

Mouat added, “The fact that Sydney does a great job on the offensive boards is big for us. She averaged five a game and is really efficient around the basket. She finishes well inside and gets excellent position.”

At Columbia Falls High School, Hovde was a member of the 2017 Class A state championship team. She was a four-year member of both the basketball and softball programs.

Sydney is the daughter of Mike and Teri Hovde. She plans on majoring in nursing at MSU-Northern.
