BUTTE — The Montana Tech football team is taking the field.
Head coach Chuck Morrell and the Orediggers stepped onto Bob Green field on Wednesday, hoping to rebound from a 6-4 season that left Tech out of the NAIA playoffs for the first time since 2014. Tech will look to restock All-Conference talent at a number of positions, including quarterback.
“You spend a lot of time in January and February in the weight room and speed training,” Morrell said. “When you play the game of football, there’s nothing like being outside.”
Tech made the most of the indoor portion of their offseason, setting a number of records in the weight room. Although kickoff is still over five months away, the new leaders of the Oredigger program are hoping to set a foundation for the rest of the calendar year.
