HELENA — Jaidyn Lyman scored a career-high 18 points and had five steals as No. 13 Carroll College defeated MSU-Northern 67-46 Saturday evening in Frontier Conference women’s basketball action. It was the second straight win for the Saints and 10th in the past 12 games.

Lyman was promoted to the starting lineup against the Skylights and didn’t disappoint the home crowd. The true freshman from Spokane made seven field goals and sank all four of her free throws, providing a spark for Rachelle Sayers’ club.

Hannah Dean and Taylor Salonen each added 12 points for the Saints. Salonen had a team-high six rebounds.

Lyman scored six points in the opening quarter, and Brittney Johnson added a pair of 3-pointers, as the Saints opened an 18-9 lead. The Saints made seven of 14 field goals in the first 10 minutes, limiting the Skylights to just a 3-for-8 performance.

Lyman added four more points early in the second period, and Bailey Pasta’s layup, assisted by Lyman, stretched the Carroll lead to 13. Northern whittled it down to six on a Peyton Filius 3-pointer, but a triple from Salonen helped the Saints to a 36-26 advantage at halftime.

After holding a 48-35 lead through three quarters, the final period belonged to the Saints. Dean, Lyman and Mikaela Olson each hit shots before a Salonen 3-pointer stretched the lead to 19 points, 57-38, with 6:32 remaining. Baskets from Dani Wagner and Oona Harrington lifted the Carroll lead to 24 in the final minute.

Filius had a team-high 12 points while Tiara Gilham added 11. Northern star Shiloh McCormick was limited to just seven points on the night.
