University of Providence's Jenna Evertz, Kelsey Shaver collect weekly nods

LA GRANDE, Ore. and WHITEFISH -- University of Providence student-athletes Jenna Evertz and Kelsey Shaver were recognized as conference players of the week, as announced by the Cascade Collegiate Conference and Frontier Conference on Monday.

Evertz was named the Cascade's Red Lion women's soccer defensive player of the week after the Polson native earnend her first career win and shutout. The 5-foot-5 junior keeper, starting only her second career match, had nine saves over the weekend, including six in an Argos' 2-0 victory over Corban University.

Shaver was once again named the Frontier's attacker of the week after the Scotts Valley, Calif. native helped Providence to a 2-2 record at the Grand View tournament. The 5-foot-9 senior averaged 4.43 kills per set with a .269 attack percentage. Shaver also averaged 3.64 digs per set as the Argos defeated Ottawa (Kan.) and St. Ambrose (Iowa), while falling to No. 4 Viterbo (Wisc.) and No. 12 Grand View (Iowa).
