GREAT FALLS– The University of Providence track and field team announced the signing of Kaitlyn Gilbert Tuesday morning.

Gilbert, a senior at Great Falls High School, is a decorated athlete. She was named the Athlete of the Week by the Great Falls Tribune. As captain of the track team for two seasons, she competed in the 100 meter dash, long jump and triple jump. Gilbert also was named 2nd Team All-Conference for her efforts on the volleyball court.

"Kaitlyn is just the kind of student-athlete we want at Providence," head coach Tony Arntson said. "She has a great work ethic, takes pride in everything about herself and is a natural leader. We're very happy to sign another local athlete."

Gilbert is quite the student in the classroom as well. She has been named Academic All-State and to the Honor Roll all four years of high school. She plans to study nursing at Providence.
