WHITEFISH – Providence's Kelsey Shaver and Montana Tech's McKenna Kaelber added to their trophy chests on Monday, as both student-athletes earned Frontier Conference volleyball player of the week honors.
Shaver, a 5-foot-8 senior outside hitter, was named the Frontier's attacker of the week, while Kaelber, Tech's 5-11 freshman, was named the setter of the week.
Shaver averaged five kills per set with a .304 attack percentage as the Argos went 1-1 to open Frontier Conference play. No. 16 Providence lost in four sets to Tech and swept Lewis-Clark State.
Tech, meanwhile, started league play with two wins, also defeating MSU-Northern. Kaelber averaged 10 assists and 2.14 digs per set for the 18th-ranked Orediggers.
Rocky Mountain College's Ayla Embry was the defender of the week. The Battlin' Bears swept Montana Western and Carroll College to start Frontier play. Rocky plays MSU Billings in non-conference action on Monday before returning to conference play against Lewis-Clark State on Friday.
League play continues this week with Providence visiting MSU-Northern on Wednesday. Montana Tech is at Montana Western on Thursday.
