DILLON — The Bulldogs are heading into conference play on a high note.

Natalie Denning scored a game-high 23 points and Lilly Gopher added 13 as the Montana Western women's basketball team topped College of Idaho 72-52 on Sunday afternoon at Straugh Gymnasium.

With the win, the Bulldogs completed the non-conference sweep of the Yotes after powering past C of I on Saturday.

Jenni Weber added 11 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, for the Bulldogs. Shainy Mack added 8 points and Paige Holmes had 6 points and a team-high 6 rebounds.

The Bulldogs, which converted 52.8 percent of their field goal attempts, led 14-8 after one quarter and 39-22 by halftime. Western expanded its lead to 57-32 by the end of the quarter.

The Yotes were paced by a 12-point, 8-rebound performance from Lexi Mitchell, who was the only C of I player to score in double digits.

Western now gears up to take on Montana Tech in a Frontier Conference doubleheader next weekend. It will be the first game of the season for the Orediggers, who have so far seen eight games canceled or postponed due to COVID-19.
