MSU-Northern men hand Providence first loss of season

GREAT FALLS — David Harris and Mascio McCadney each scored 26 as the MSU-Northern men's basketball team beat the University of Providence 96-85 on Saturday.

It was the first loss of the season for the Argos, who played without Zaccheus Darko-Kelly and Jaxen Hashley in what the athletic department called "University of Providence protocol."

Northern took a 53-47 lead by halftime, using hot shooting from beyond the arc and 16 points each from Harris and McCadney. In the second half, CJ Nelson scored 11 points for the Lights and Aaron Collins added eight of his 11.

For Providence, Marcus Stephens led the way with 22 points. Dawson Fowler scored 19 and Cap Uzan added 17.

Northern improves to 6-4, 5-4 in Frontier Conference play. Providence falls to 6-1. The teams will square off again on Sunday.
