WHITEFISH -- After notching Frontier Conference football wins on Saturday, Montana Western and Carroll College student-athletes were named the league's players of the week on Monday.

Western went on the road to defeat Montana State-Northern, 38-13, on Saturday. Joe Caicedo, a 6-foot-1, 220-pound junior linebacker from Darby, had six solo tackles, three assisted tackles and 2.5 tackles-for-loss in the win on his way to earning the Frontier Conference's defensive player of the week award. Mark Kharchenko, Western's junior kicker, was named the league's special teams player of the week after making his only field goal attempt and converting all five of his point-after attempts.

Carroll College ran away to a 44-7 upset win over then-No. 23 Rocky Mountain College on Saturday behind a strong game from Matthew Burgess, who was named the Frontier's offensive player of the week. The 5-11, 195-pound freshman running back carried the ball 21 times for 153 yardds and three touchdowns.

Western and Carroll both return to Frontier Conference action next week. The Bulldogs travel to Rocky Mountain College, while Carroll hosts MSU-Northern.
