WHITEFISH -- Three Montana Tech student-athletes were named Frontier Conference athletes of the week, the league announced Monday.

Henry Kakalecik and Becca Richtman were named the men's and women's cross country runners of the week, while Taylor England was named the men's basketball player of the week.

Kakalecik is a freshman from Great Falls. He finished fourth overall and was the top Frontier Conference runner out of 54 runners at the Montana Western Open at the Beaverhead Golf Course in Dillon last week. His time was 26 minutes, 56 seconds in the 8,000-meter run.

Richtman, a senior from Elburn, Ill., earned the weekly honor for the third time this season. At the Montana Western Open, Richtman finished first out of 44 runners with a time of 18:58 in the 5,000-meter race. She was undefeated during the conference regular season women’s meets in the coronavirus-shortened 2020-21 Frontier Conference cross country season.

England is a 6-foot-7 senior forward from Helena. Montana Tech opened the regular season with an 82-59 road loss at Dickinson State. England scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. He was 7 of 11 from the field (64 percent) and 8 of 9 from the free throw line (89 percent).
