BUTTE -- Montana Tech starting running back Jed Fike is out for the rest of the season due to injury, MTN Sports confirmed on Wednesday.
Fike has missed the last three weeks after suffering a lower leg injury in the Orediggers' game against Southern Oregon. The Whitehall native rushed for 349 yards and four scores in three games this season. Tech's hopes were high for Fike in his senior season after he rushed for a career-high 1,349 yards in 2018, scoring nine times.
The Orediggers told MTN Sports that they are exploring the possibility of using a medical redshirt on Fike this season.
No. 22 Montana Tech (3-1) is set to host unbeaten and 15th-ranked Montana Western (4-0) at 6 p.m. Saturday.
