BUTTE — The Montana Tech basketball teams scored a pair of wins against Rocky Mountain College on Saturday at the HPER Complex.
In the women's game, Tavia Rooney netted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds as the Orediggers rolled past the Battlin' Bears 69-56.
Tech (3-4 overall, 3-4 in the Frontier Conference) led 16-10 after one quarter and built a 39-27 lead by halftime.
Dani Urick led Tech with 16 points and Mesa Williams had 11.
The Battlin' Bears (0-3, 0-3) were led by 16 points from Mackenzie Dethman and 9 from Kloie Thatcher, a Butte Central graduate who was playing against her hometown college.
In the men's game, Cody Baumstarck had a double-double and Sindou Diallo added 17 as the Orediggers raced by Rocky 84-63.
Tech (3-4, 3-2) built an insurmountable 43-21 lead by halftime.
Baumstarck's double-double was a game-high 19 points and 10 rebounds. Markieth Brown added 11 points.
The Battlin' Bears (1-2, 1-2) were led by 12 points from Tayshawun Bradford and 11 from Darius Henderson.
Tech and Rocky face off again Sunday. The women tip off at 2 p.m. and the men at 4 p.m.
