HELENA -- For the first time in program history, the Montana Tech men's golf team has won back-to-back Frontier Conference tournaments.
Tech's Sean Ramsbacher took medalist honors at the Carroll College Invitational on Tuesday, firing a 4-under-par 68 at Bill Roberts Golf Course to help the Orediggers to a team score of 282 strokes. That score tied with Rocky Mountain College, but Tech won a playoff on the 10th hole with its top five players carding a combined 2-under-par compared to Rocky's 1-under.
Trey Hoagland, the reigning Frontier Conference men's golfer of the week, finished in a four-way tie for second with a 2-under-par 70. Rocky's Daniel Sigurjonsson, Mitchell Thiessen and Nolan Burzminski also shot 70s. For the men's leaderboard, please click here.
Montana State-Northern placed third in the team race with 330 strokes, while Carroll College was fourth at 338.
Rocky Mountain College's Claire Wright cruised to the women's individual title, carding an even-par 72, eight strokes better than second-place Kaelyn Volk, also of Rocky. Volk was the Frontier's women's golfer of the week last week.
The Battlin' Bears won the team title with 327 combined strokes, also getting a top-five finish from Amanda Conner with an 87. Carroll College teammates Katie Fagg (82) and Caroline Hobson (86) were third and fourth, respectively, and the Fighting Saints finished second as a team with 360 strokes.
