DILLON -- Taylor England had a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough for the Montana Tech men's basketball team, which lost to College of Idaho 79-70 on Friday.
College of Idaho, which is coached by former Montana Western player and coach Colby Blaine, had four players score in double figures, led by Jalen Galloway's 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including a 3-for-3 mark from 3-pointer range. Ivory Miles-Williams (13 points), Johnny Radford (11) and Connor Desaulniers (10) also finished in double figures for the Yotes, who made eight 3-pointers in the game.
Trailing 46-42 at the break, the Yotes scored the first 10 points of the second half – including consecutive 3-pointers from Galloway – to take the lead for good. C of I held the Orediggers (0-2) to 4-of-26 shooting after halftime.
C of I built a 64-54 lead midway through the second half, but the Orediggers used a sizable advantage at the free throw line to chip away at the deficit, cutting the margin to 68-67 on two Camdyn Larance freebies with seven minutes left. C of I held Tech to just one made field goal the rest of the way.
Tech's biggest lead of the night came midway through the first half. The Orediggers pushed the lead to 23-12 with a 16-4 run.
England made 14 of 15 free throw attempts in the game. Sindou Diallo added 18 points and nine rebounds for the Orediggers.
