WHITEFISH -- For the third time in as many weeks, Carroll College sophomore Jovan Sljivancanin was named the Frontier Conference men's basketball player of the week.
The 6-foot-5 sophomore from Belgrade, Serbia averaged 23 points, 14.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in a pair of home wins over Montana Tech and No. 14 Lewis-Clark State College. The Saints defeated the Orediggers 82-78 in overtime, then bounced the Warriors 78-69.
Sljivancanin hit 18 of 39 shots from the floor, including a 3-for-8 performance from beyond the 3-point line. He also made all seven of his free throws in posting two double-doubles.
Montana Tech junior Mesa Williams earned the league's women's basketball player of the week honor after guiding the Orediggers to a 1-1 record on the weekend. Williams averaged 19 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in Tech's 78-51 loss at No. 23 Carroll and 83-59 rout of No. 12 Lewis-Clark State College.
Williams, a 5-foot-10 forward, connected on 12 of 24 shots, going 6 of 12 from downtown. She made eight of her 11 free throws and had a team-high 25 points in the win over Lewis-Clark State.
