HELENA -- Friday the Carroll College men's and women's basketball fans got a chance to see the 2019-20 rosters in action at the P.E. Center.

Rachelle Sayers and the Carroll women enter the Frontier Conference season as the preseason No. 1 in the league after winning the conference's postseason championship and advancing to the national tournament. Preseason all-conference selections Dani Wagner and Christine Denny, who was honorable mention all-America a season ago, led the Carroll women in Friday's scrimmage.

Friday was the first opportunity for Carroll fans to view Montana State transfer and former Helena High state champion Kamden Hilborn in a Saints' uniform.

Kurt Paulson and the Carroll men were selected fourth in the Frontier Conference preseason poll, with guard Dane Warp named the preseason player of the year. Warp and the Fighting Saints placed runner-up at the NAIA national tournament last March, falling to Georgetown (Ky.) in the title game in Kansas City.

Paulson's Saints also return key players in Eetu Villa, Jovan Sljivancanin and Shamrock Campbell, while bringing in new faces Malachi Afework and Brendan Temple.

The Carroll College women will open their season on Sunday when they play host to the Calgary Dinos at 2 p.m. The men's team will make the trip to Corvallis, Ore. to take on Wayne Tinkle's Oregon State Beavers on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 8 p.m.
