BILLINGS - Rocky Mountain College women’s basketball head coach Wes Keller has announced the signing of Helena guard Riley Thennis to a Frontier Conference letter of intent for 2020-2021.

Thennis is a 5-foot-8 guard who excelled in multiple sports at Helena High School. In addition to being a softball Most Valuable Player and cross-country team captain, Thennis earned two varsity letters in basketball and was a member of the 2019 Class AA state championship team. As a senior, Thennis averaged six points, three rebounds, 2.5 assists and two steals per game.

“Riley is a tough kid who can do a little bit of everything on the basketball court,” Keller said. “She comes from one of the best high school programs in the state and has experienced winning conference and state championships. She is an excellent student and will have a positive impact on our team and our campus in general.”

Thennis is the daughter of Dave and Stephanie Thennis and carries a 3.77 GPA. She plans to major in biology and intends to enter the Rocky Mountain College Physician Assistant graduate program upon earning her undergraduate degree.

“I had always been interested in Rocky because their academic programs make sense for my future goals. Then I was given the opportunity to continue my basketball career and together, it just felt right. They have a great program and it is close to home. I’m excited to continue both my academic and athletic career as a Battlin’ Bear!"
