KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Frontier Conference is well-represented in the NAIA Division I women's basketball coaches' top 25 poll, which was released Wednesday.

Five teams from the league -- Lewis-Clark State, Montana State-Northern, Providence, Carroll College and Rocky Mountain College -- are ranked in the top 25. Defending national champion Montana Western is among the other teams to receive votes.

Lewis-Clark State leads the Frontier teams in the rankings, coming in at No. 12 after not being ranked in the preseason poll. Northern wasn't ranked in the preseason, either, but the Lights, who are undefeated at 7-0 to start the year, are 14th this week. Providence fell two spots from 17th to 19th, and Carroll tumbled from No. 7 down to No. 23. Rocky is 25th after initially earning the No. 18 preseason ranking.

Campbellsville (Ky.) received eight first-place votes to move up to first. Oklahoma City, The Master's (Calif.), Vanguard (Calif.) and Westmont (Calif.) make up the rest of the top five. Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.), which has lost three of its first seven games, fell from first to 10th.

The Frontier Conference started league play on Tuesday with Carroll earning a 78-51 home win over Montana Tech. The conference schedule continues on Thursday with Rocky Mountain College visiting Providence and Montana Western visiting MSU-Northern.
