Carroll's Jovan Sljivancanin, Dani Wagner named Frontier Conference basketball players of the week

WHITEFISH -- Carroll College swept the Frontier Conference men's and women's basketball player of the week awards, which were announced Monday. Jovan Sljivancanin, a 6-foot-5 junior forward from Belgrade, Serbia, took the men's honor, while Dani Wagner, a 5-9 senior guard from Havre, earned the women's honor.

The Carroll College men closed the regular season with a road sweep of Montana Western, winning 67-52 on Saturday and 77-63 on Sunday. Sljivancanin averaged 17 points, 15.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in the two wins. He was 13 of 24 from the field and 7 of 7 from free throw line.

Carroll's sixth-ranked women also closed the regular season with a road sweep of Montana Western, posting a 63-55 win on Saturday and a 70-59 victory on Sunday. Wagner averaged 19.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game over the weekend, and was 13 of 24 from the field, including an 8-of-16 mark from 3-point range, and 5 of 5 from the free throw line.

Both Carroll teams earned first-round byes in the Frontier Conference playoffs, which begin on Thursday. The Saints men (16-6 overall, 13-5 Frontier) are the No. 2 seed, while the Saints women (19-2, 13-1) are the No. 1 seed after winning the Frontier Conference regular-season title. Both teams will host semifinal games on Saturday.
